Does Fire Dawgs Donate Used Furniture?

Question: Does Fire Dawgs donate used furniture?

Answer: Not only do we donate your used furniture, but we will also go above and beyond to try and donate as much of your other unwanted items as we possibly can! And why not, just because old furniture has used up it’s life with one person doesn’t mean it still can’t be used by someone else who needs it!  What often times ends up happening is a customer compiles a group of unwanted items and out of that pile decides what they think can be donated. However, since we spend a lot of time recycling, reusing, repurposing and donating used furniture all over Indianapolis and the surrounding areas, we are able to divert a lot of things from the landfill. While customers may only think a fraction of their things could be donated, we will try and donate as much out of the pile as possible. Next, we will sort through those things that can be recycled. Then, we will see what could be repurposed. Last, and only after exhausting all other options, we will take the remaining items to the landfill.

Below is a list of the various places where we will take your used furniture so that it can be donated and put back into the cycle of life!

Goodwill: This is by far the largest charitable outlet that we work with due to the numerous locations they have around the city that make donations convenient for our daily schedule and logistics. They also take the largest amount of household items. We donate used furniture to Goodwill often!

Salvation Army: This is another well-known charitable outlet around the country that is an organization for good so we try to do our part to continue sending donations to their cause.

Habitat for Humanity: This isn’t necessarily an outlet for old furniture or clothes, but they still try to keep construction materials in circulation as opposed to having them end up in the dumpster.

Indy Fire Rescue House: This is a smaller charitable organization in Indianapolis that was started to help displaced families as a result of a fire. This organization gets them back on their feet and tries to provide them with a place to live and with new furnishings. When able, we will send items their way.

St. Vincent de Paul: This is another outlet that we work with at the request of our customers and on our own when it fits within our logistics for the day. They state on their website, “We service needy persons regardless of religious affiliations, race or national origin.”

This is  just a short list of the many different outlets that we have serviced over the past couple years, but this list is illustrative of our ongoing efforts to keep items out of the landfills and in circulation so that we can do our part keeping the country resourceful and helpful!
